Bay Horse Farm Reviews

I booked The Bay Horse Farm for a gathering of famly and friends to help celebrate my birthday. We all found the accommodation to be delightful and made for a very special occasion. It is a very well fitted out with everything we needed for a party ranging from a 5 year old to 75 year old guests. It's location provides easy access to many atttractions. I would not hesitate in recommending this house and certainly hope to return in the future. My grateful thanks, John, Family and Friends.
Bay Horse Farm is the most amazing property with its quirky rooms and layout and beautiful original features, it encapsulates the warm and cosy feeling of being in the country but with everything you could need. The property was ideal for our family gathering of 10 and we had the most fantastic stay. Nancy was the most wonderful host, being friendly and informative before we arrived and then there if we needed anything whilst we were staying at the property. Beautiful welcome gift left, including fresh eggs from the hens, kitchen and bathrooms equipped with everything you could need, fires set up ready to go, honestly was just perfect. Also one of the highlights for young and old was meeting the beautiful alpacas, Sunshine and Sputnik, who were gorgeous and so friendly. Bay Horse Farm is an old property so you need to take this into account when booking but everything was clean and well cared for and the bedrooms were to a beautiful high standard and main bathroom especially the bath is something you will love. We didnt want to leave and will definitely be back, would highly recommend this property.
Melody
Wonderful accommodation, host was very helpful and friendly. Loved all the gifts Nancy left for us. Thank you both, we couldnt recommend your accommodation more highly.
This was a lovely place to stay for a large family gathering. The farmhouse is quirky and rambling, with many original features to admire and be fascinated by. The beds are totally comfortable, with soft and warm bedlinen. The ensuite bathrooms in many of the rooms were most welcome. We couldn't believe just how powerful and warm the showers are! The owners are very helpful and the little welcome gifts they left were quite a treat especially the shortbread biscuits! We were only here for three nights for a family wedding at Bolton Abbey. A pity, because it was a great place to stay and the surrounding countryside wonderful. Would be happy to recommend and return to one day.
Kelvin
What a great location and accommodation, Nancy & Brendan were great hosts and we wanted for nothing. Welcome package was much more than we expected and everything in the accommodation was great quailty, we never did get to grips with the AGA, but a great feature, there was a large microwave and ceramic hot plate we could use, I would recommend this accommodation anytime.
Philip
A fantastic place for our family get together. The Grandchildren loved the Alpacas and the accommodation is amazing. Overall, a great place to stay with a good location for Skipton and the surrounding area. The Hosts are very welcoming, helpful and friendly.
Absolutely amazing cottage. It had so much character, it was spacious and comfortable, and we had an amazing time here with our friends. The hosts were lovely, welcoming, helpful, and thoughtful. We would 100 recommend.
Brilliant weekend away in a fantastic holiday cottage. Cottage had everything we needed and the welcome pack was an added bonus. Was lovely to sit with a cup of coffee and watch the alpacas. Location is great, 5 mins car journey into Skipton or Gargrave where there are plenty of places to eat. Would certainly book again.
What a fab place! Brendan and Nancy were so welcoming, the house was fab, and we had a great time.
We had a very enjoyable week. Great rural location yet still near enough to Skipton for shopping and eating out etc. We even walked there and back a couple of times. The accommodation was very comfortable and just as expected from the website description. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. All in all a great place to stay.
A great place and lovely hosts. Everything that we needed was there and we would be very happy to stay at Bay Horse Farm again.
Bay Horse Farm is a lovely place to stay. The owners have thought of everything and are extremely generous with all the little touches and nothing was too much trouble including providing us with a gas bbq when we asked if they had anything we could use. The children loved the Alpacas and George the donkey, and had numerous great toys inside and out to play with whilst we were there including rideon tractors and the pool table. The beds are really comfy and the rooms are spacious. The garden at the front of the house is a brilliant place for kids to play with a little stream to jump over and play inaround. Great places to stay for visiting a number of places in the local area. We will be back! Thanks you.
We rented Bay Horse Farm for an important family holiday and it was exceptional in every way. Spacious, beautifully decorated and with everything you could possibly need. We will definitely be back.
Just what we were looking for. We had a fabulous group break with open fires every night and meals either around the farmhouse kitchen table in front of the AGA or in the dining room in front of the range. Thoroughly recommend.
We loved our stay at Bay Horse Farm and the adjoining cottage. It was my 50th and the perfect setting for my celebrations. The house is so homely and comfortable, has so much character and has been finished with impeccable taste. Plenty of fuel for the wonderful stoves, a fab Aga to cook on and everything you could need. Great walks nearby and Skipton only 2 miles away. Owners Nancy & Brendan are lovely, as are their menagerie of animals and the Fent Shop is amazing too!
Steven
We absolutely loved the rustic charm of the property and the kitchen, with lovely warm aga, cannot fail to be the hubsocial area for everybody staying there. A comfortable living room with open fire is very cosy on a wintry January night. There's plenty of space and everything you need. In a morning and evening the kids loved watching the llamas and donkey move from stable to field and back, right next to the kitchen window. The location is great for exploring skipton and the surrounding area and there are some great pubs with food only a few minutes drive away. The only downside we experienced was one of the bedrooms was a bit colder than we'd of liked and we couldn't get the temperature up in that bedroom. It was a cold January weekend. The rest of the house was warm.

Leak from the shower and bath in one of the bedrooms above the kitchen, water ... Leak from the shower and bath in one of the bedrooms above the kitchen, water was pouring through one of the lights in the kitchen
Perfect accommodation for our wedding group. Well equipped and very comfortable.
Rustic charm with all the home comforts you could want. Comfy beds with quality bedding and everywhere was very clean. Nancy provided us with a lovely welcome pack, was very helpful and even has a fabric shop at the farm! Thoroughly recommend this cottage in such a beautiful location.
Sandra
We were delighted with this property. It was perfect for our family holiday. 6 adults, a 7, 5 and 3 yr old and a 3 month old baby. Such a lovely house in a beautiful location. Nancy and Brendan were always there to help if needed and the animals were a real bonus for the children big and small. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wanted a larger property.
This is a stunning house. Really homely. Great open fires stoves. Enjoyed cooking with the Aga. Loads of bathrooms. Lovely setting. Owners very pleasant people.
Beautiful spot. Gorgeous farmhouse. Excellent hosts. And a set of calm, contented animals we thoroughly enjoyed meeting. What more could we ask for? Such a pleasure to stay here.
We chatted to the owners before leaving and gave direct feedback. We had a great short break at Bay Horse Farm and hope to return
Edward
Fantastic cottage. Feels like youre in your own home. Nancy and brendan very friendly and helpful. We loved the alpacas and George the donkey. Very relaxed atmosphere. We had a lovely stay at Bay Horse Farm, such a great welcoming cottage and hosts, including the alpacas and donkey! Cooking on the aga was also a highlight, especially the toasting rack! Great location too, nothing was too far away. We did various activities including Bolton Abbey, a steam railway ride, canal boat trip, and bowling and darts for the teenagers as well as a visit to Aireville Park. Skipton Castle and a mooch around the town was also ticked off. We had evening meals in the cottage a couple of nights and also ventured to the best fish and chips place The Frying Yorkshireman in nearby Gargrave and The Fountaine Inn at Linton. After we checked out on the Friday morning we headed to Billy Bob's Diner which was amazing full on American style diner where we overdosed on waffles and pancakes. A brilliant week was had by all 7 of us in a very lovely cottage. Thank you xx
Nicola
Lovely house, plenty of space for 6 adults and 3 children. The welcome pack was appreciated. Nancy and Brendan the owners were friendly and helpful. The animals were a big hit with adults and children. Skipton is a great place within walking distance of the house, we hired a canal boat for the day which was great fun, and to top it off the sun shone every day!
Loved every minute of our stay in this beautiful, airy, character property. The welcome pack of organic eggs, milk Prosecco was very thoughtful. Truly felt like a home away from home with the owners being brilliant hosts and very helpful. Loved cooking on the AGA and spending time as a family in the well equipped cottage. We will surely be back again. Thank you
Richard
Well what can I say? The Bay Horse Farm has everything. Wonderful location, quirky animals, historical charm and hosts that are becoming very rare these days. Friendly but thoughtfull, helpful but discreet. We left the best until last and we are so thankful we did. Staying here was the highlight of a 5 week European stay. A home from home. We will definitely be back. Thank you B and N for making us, and especially my children, feel so welcome at your wonderful farm.
Rachel
Our family short break holiday was perfect. The 9 of us had an amazing time, all our needs were catered for. The standard of the accommodation is excellent and the owners Nancy and Brendan could not do enough to help and they were so friendly. There were such a lot of finishing touches at the property, both in the rooms and in the welcome pack of biscuits, prosecco, crisps and fresh eggs which were so thoughtful. To have a wood and coal supply was also great. The location of the property is excellent being so close to Skipton but also tothe rest of the Dales and very accessible by car. Local walks available from the door. All in all 5 stars for everything.
Excellent hosts made the house very welcoming. A good location with local walks. We were a Group of 9 friends and it suited us very well. Thank you
Exceeded our expectations of a holiday rental. The property is packed with old bits and bobs and original features like the stones floors, oak beams, open fires, old working range and yet has all the modern comforts modern bathrooms, elec aga, super comfy beds linens, central heating etc. very spacious. What made it extra special were details like the very generous welcome pack inc 12 home laid eggs, Prosecco and large tin of M&S choc biscuits! And that each of the 3 open fires were set ready for a match which was amazing. We ate dinner alongside the range fire so cosy. We sat in the kitchen around the warm aga chatting. Just perfect !
Sophie
What an absolutely perfect find! I cant begin to explain how quickly we fell in love with Bay Horse Farm the garden, the beautiful bedrooms each different to the other the size of the baths! The whole place was absolutely spotless, and was the most charming place to stay. We were left fresh farm eggs, some milk, plenty of bottled water and the house had majority of the basics for cooking etc. loads of plates and dishes and cutlery for serving food and a dishwasher! We as a group have already discussed coming back. Thanks for a beautiful stay!
The owners, Brendon and Nancy, were extremely welcoming and terrific hosts! The resident alpacas, George the donkey, as well as Paul the sheep, also kept the grandchildren both amused and engaged. The facilities were absolutely perfect wellappointed rooms, preset open fires, and a very spacious garden. Thank you!
We booked Bay Horse Farm on the rebound following a very late cancellation of our original booking at another property. It turned out to be quite serendipitous! Our party of ten six adults and four children absolutely loved our stay in this fantastic property. While providing modern features of comfort it completely retains its period charm with wooden beamed ceilings, open fires in three downstairs rooms, a superb kitchen with original stone floor and electric Aga. It is snug and cosy yet offered more than enough space for our extended family to spread out and for the children to play. I was particularly impressed by the art work on the walls which is both tasteful and varied. The owners live on the site and were helpful and friendly and they provided us with an exceptionally generous 'welcome' pack of goodies.
We came to stay at the property with family to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. It is perfectly situated two miles out of Skipton, which is only a five minute drive away, and with stunning views. The house was beautifully warm when we arrived on a chilly evening and we were made very welcome by the owners. The house is charming and has lots of interesting features, including fires which could be lit in the three reception rooms, and lots of nooks and crannies. The bedrooms were beautifully comfortable and the bathrooms clean and well stocked. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, although we could barely get the youngsters 11, 9 & 7 inside as they spotted the swing in the paddock as soon as they arrived, where they played for ages, surrounded by a sheep, two alpacas and a donkey. There is a lovely walk by the canal, just short walk from the house and a fabulous farm shop just a mile away. Skipton is a very pretty town and we visited the castle, had a trip on the canal on a barge and ate out one evening at a lovely bistro. We had a wonderful time and can thoroughly recommend it.
What a great holiday house! 11 of us children and adults stayed for a weekend and owners were incredibly helpful and accommodating. The place was spotless, warm and the welcome pack very welcome! We loved this old farm house which is quirky and a bit of a Tardis. You will find everything you need here including alpaca's and donkey and the location is a great base for the local area. I would highly recommend booking and would stay again in the future. Thanks to the owners again for a great stay!
