Neddy House Reviews

It was our family's first time at the Neddy House and we weren't disappointed. Lovely proportions and well appointed bedrooms. The grand kids loved the cinema room and pool table. The house was in a lovely location with walks and a fantastic pub just a few strides from the front door. Overall couldn't fault it. Three generations were well served in this lovely house. Adequate parking for three cars. All the en suite showers were very powerful. The kitchen was a terrific room for everyone to meet up in and catch up with everyone's day. Probably the best large house we have stayed in as a family.
Pamela
What a beautiful house which was perfect for our family get together. In a lovely village with a nice pub, great walks long or short plus a bike shop nearby that did the best breakfast! And a great book shop in the village. The garden at the back is not enclosed but in the small shed there are wire screens which were perfect for blocking the entrance out of the garden for our dogs. Hopefully next year we will be back!
Ashley
The house was amazing and the person I spoke to regarding info of where he is leaving the key and info about area was incredibly helpful, and very welcoming and understanding of our needs of my wifes father with terminal cancer, we have already recommended this place to people and will also be returning, thank you ! !
Loved the house and location
Hilary
We had a lovely stay overall. The location was great and the house was a really good size for our group of 10, which made it ideal for a group getaway. The pool table & cinema room make it great for social occasions. However, we did feel it could benefit from a more thorough clean. There was quite a lot of dust, crumbs in the carpets, cobwebs, and the toilets had stains in them when we arrived, which was disappointing. We also found that none of the televisions were connected, so we werent able to watch anything during our stay apart from in the cinema room. For the price we paid, a few more luxury touches would also make a big difference for example, providing more logs, upgrading the upholstery, ensuring there is enough hot water for a large group, and having the heating on ready for arrival. With a bit more attention to these details, it could be an excellent place to stay.
Great accommodation for a family gettogether. The kitchen was well stocked, the rooms comfortable, and the pool table and cinema went down very well across the generations.
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend away with family celebrating birthdays at Neddy House. The accommodation was perfect for a large party, particularly with the 3 ensuites, other bedroombathroom facilities and of course the pool table and cinema room. The beds were comfortable and the house clean. The setting was in a picturesque village with the pub only a few meters away with Reeth being a 20 minute stroll. Particular thanks to the caretaker John who was particularly helpful both before our stay and during.
Had a lovely weekend at Neddy House. Large property for a group of 8 friends. Clean & comfortable. Enjoyed the cinema room & the log burner. Nice walks directly from the door. Also a few minutes walk from the Bridge inn. Typical country pub, Nice food, warm & cosy. Caretaker in contact before our visit which was a nice touch. Would book again.
Angela
Lovely accommodation. Everything you required for a comfortable stay was available. Nice gesture with the welcome basket. Would highly recommend for a large group getaway.
Deborah
The property is dirty from walking in this house had not been hoovered any where there was nuts crisps crumbs hairs in every room, god forbid anybody has a nut allergy going into this property. The toiletsbathrooms were not clean. The beds and bedding were clean. The heating didnt work properly either freezing or boiling. Neddy House is in a beautiful villagearea and has lots of potential to be 5 star However without a deep clean doesnt meet a 3 star in my opinion. Yes please publish and I would appreciate a call back as requested after my third email to you. Sykes Cottages you have disappointed. O also have lots of images of the property. I look forward to hearing from you.
Great size property for large familyfriends holiday. Lovely size rooms & comfortable beds. Good location for visiting local towns & walking. A few minor comments, dishwasher had dirty pots left in it when we arrived & one of the toilets hadnt been cleaned properly & bathroom windows in ensuite upstairs wouldnt close. Also would be nice to have a few logs for the fire!
Lovely property, we enjoyed it very much. Made good use of the cinema and pool table. Very comfortable and cosy at night.lovely walks and the local pub good is good so is the cafe near by ,great homemade cakes. Not awkward if you struggle with steps but otherwise fabulous.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Neddy House, very comfortable and spacious property in beautiful surroundings. We made use of the cinema which was a bonus , we did take DVds but loads at the property for all ages. Would highly recommend this property, very convenient location for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire dales.
Joanne
Beautiful area and beautiful property. The beds are so comfortable and clean. The Kitchen has all that you need and we loved having the cinema room on the rainy days. Spacious house as we were a family of 8 4 adults, 4 children and never seemed to be in each other's way at all. Only a couple of negatives which we were not put off by is it was a little dusty and marks on the walls off crushed spiders. The hoover did not work very well and parking was a struggle for lower cars but all in all it was a lovely stay and we would definitely love to come back.
Beautiful house and incredibly spacious especially for our group of 6. Very comfy beds. Slept very well. Massive bonus having a pool table and cinema room. Location couldnt be better. Right in the dales but with pub and excellent cafe a very short walk away. The only slight let down was the cleanliness of the house and some of the condition of facilities and kitchen ware. They were small points but unfortunately detracted from an otherwise excellent experience.
Patrick
Absolutely great cottage 5 of us on a walking holiday 3 great walks 10miles plus from front door. Back home to the range of bedrooms all had own bedroom and ensuite. Cinema room for classic relax great property great location would definitely return.
Elizabeth
Neddy House was an amazing house to stay in for a family celebration of an18th and 21st. Large enough for us all to get together but also have our own space. We loved the cinema and pool room. The beds were very comfy and waking up to sheep in the fields opposite was so special. It was ideal having so many en suites also. We also had a great meal in the pub in the village. A perfect stay!
Kathryn
Super cottage, very comfortable and well equipped with plenty of bathrooms. Snooker table snd conema room were a hit with all. Grest walks straight out of the front door too.
We had a great time , House was everything and more than expected. We made a christmas dinner for 10 with all the trimmings and had all the kitchen equipment needed. Location was great , overall had very memorable stay . Thank You
We would like to thanks the cottage for an amazing stay . . we truly loved the area and beds and kitchen. the best ever
We had a most enjoyable weekend at Neddy House. It was lovely and warm, which we hadnt expected from the size of the property and extremely well equipped. The welcome pack was a nice gesture. I was anxious after booking that some reviews made out that the property was unclean and badly maintained. I did notice that behind the furniture was rather dusty but the areas we used were fine and the character of the building is really lovely. The walks from the house were beautiful and We visited the church in the village for Christmas carols. The grandchildren loved the movie room and we all enjoyed the pool table. We were sad when it was time to leave and will definitely be booking again.
Steven
Perfect cottage but in need of a deep clean & some maintenance, radiators need air bleeding, several lights not working especially front outside, kitchen floor has big chunks of concrete missing between flagstone. On a plus side beds where very clean and comfortable, area was amazing. These little niggles did not spoil our experience and this is not a complaint, if people do not feedback the owner may not know. We would happily return.
Wonderful property in Swaledale, Everything was lovely for our family celebration gettogether. The cinema room was a hit with all members of the group. Plenty of walks, cycle routes, and beautiful autumn countryside views from every window. A lovely base in the heart of Swaledale, for a group of 10 to spend relaxing time together. Our thanks to everyone involved for providing such a well equipped home in the Dales..
Rachel
Although the house itself is beautiful, internally too, we were left very disappointed at the poor standard of cleanliness throughout. From arrival to leaving it seemed more and more went against our internal high expectations of this property. Furnishings such as the kitchen chairs and the cushions on the sofa are really looking tired. We appreciate this property is old and with it may come spiders and cobwebs but they were everywhere, where they shouldn't have been IF the place had been cleaned thoroughly between visits. I don't believe the floor appeared to have been cleaned properly for a long time, with evident darken dirt built up through the main walk ways, which stood out to the areas not waked on games room pew area for example along this the floor in the kitchen is dangerous. The grouting has come away from lin large sections and attempts have been made clearly to part others up but the exposed craters meant we kept loosing chair legs down them and losing our balance whilst sitting, being as deep. Three TV' s in bedrooms didn't work, stating please check arial! Not great. The cupboard surround to the right of the freezer fell off on our arrival. The back door lock is super tricky to actually lock and the door catches on the floor when opening leaving you very little space to slip in. The flag steps to the front and the back are covered with slippery moisturedirt build up leaving us slipping too many times, they need jet washing! The shower to the main bathroom upstairs is very slow to drain, needs looking at! The floors we feel hadn't even been swept as there was visible hair and dirt on arrival. And we were disappointed given the high end price of the property that there was zero salt or pepper, no milk coffee or sugar condiments, just a large empty grinder in the cupboard. The cupboards were also very messy with no structure to them, particularly a cupboard housing plastic pates etc, wait was dirty too. Same with the cleaning product cupboards in the kitchen and utility. All needs a sort out and to be presented a lot better in our opinion. We would be grateful to hear back from the owner on the back of this feedback as we really weren't happy with the standard of the place during our stay given we'd trusted it to be a lot more high spec having read the write up and paid the very expensive price for our stay.
Lovely place to stay would definitely visit again
This was our 4th visit to Neddy house, and whilst I am not submitting a complaint, I feel compelled to submit some constructive criticism! Since our first visit the property has lost that wow factor. It is looking very tired and several areas could do with sprucing up, or at least a deep clean. Acknowledging that this is an old country dwelling, we felt that even considering this, there is an excess of cobwebs and dust in the general living areas and in the corners of steps. The flag floors were very dusty and dirty, previous occupants breakfast cereals lurk in the cracks, lots of crumbs and old party decorations were all around on the floor when we arrived. Simple things like the oven gloves which are covered in old food, require washing or rotating between guests. Place mats are frayed, and the cork plate mats are crumbling and stained. Also the website needs altering. For ourselves, one of the attractions is the log burner and the description states that a starter supply of logs are included, however when I rang the contact number, I was told that that was not until post October 1st bookings, to be fair a small bag of logs was delivered after my call, but had we known that they were not included, then we would have taken some with us. The whole property is in need of a deep clean and some tlc to revive the experience.
Deborah
We have just had an amazing stay at Neddy House for a surprise 60th birthday celebration for my husband. The house was perfect for all ages and the bedrooms were gorgeous. The pool table was a hit with the boys and we all loved the cinema room. The location is great too, the Bridge Inn is literally down the lane and we had a fab meal there on our first night. We walked along the river to Reeth which is lovely too. I would highly recommend this beautiful property.
Andrew
Couple of issues Dishwasher was missing a wheel for the bottom tray which made the stacking a little problematic but doable There was a promise of sky on the lounge TV but it was only Freesat.
Couldn't of asked for anything more. Perfect property in a perfect location. Excellent facilities
Michelle
Stunning property! Everything was perfect, loved the cinema room and all the bedrooms so big and comfortable, will deffo be returning
Beverley
Fantastic stay at Neddy House. Would highly recommend. Super spacious, sociable dining kitchen. Excellent cinema room and great pool room. All bedrooms were a good size. The house is in a super location in the middle of beautiful countryside with walking on your doorstep. The pub at the bottom of the lane is a bit basic but the cycle cafe in the village is outstanding. Superb cakes and snacks. There are also two decent pubs in Reeth just 1 mile away. We would definitely recommend this cottage and look forward to returning.
We chose Neddy House for a family reunion with relatives ranging from the age of 12 to 83 and it didn't disappoint anyone! My fatherinlaw 82 said it was the best night's sleep and shower he had ever had, my 16yearold nephew made full and enthusiastic use of the home cinema and we were all delighted by the beauty of the house and its setting in the heart of the Dales. With excellent walking all around we could not have had a happier or more enjoyable holiday and hope to return again.
