The Stoop, Scarborough

Wonderful location with a fantastic view of the beach. Plenty of space with large bedrooms and enough bathrooms for a large group mine was a group of 9, including 4 kids. Comfy beds and sofas in the living room. Some good family games there and a great TV. The entrance to the balcony could be a little bit slippery and there was some mess left on the balcony from seagulls. However the general cleanliness of the house was excellent.

Genuine mixed feelings about this. Had a fabulous stay, massively helped by the good weather. The house is unfortunately a bit sad looking and obviously hasnt been looked after. If wed paid less it probably wouldnt be as much of a bugbear, but when youre charging more, people expect more. Definitely do not take food out on the terrace, or dont leave it out there, as there are some very persistent gulls that can sense the instance you take a slice of toast outside. The noise is horrendous, there are birds nesting on windowsills at the front and chimney pots at the back, we were all woken at various times, ranging from 3am onwards. The amount of birds obviously means the terrace and furniture is adorned with poo and clearly isnt cleaned between stays. Its probably fighting a losing battle. The view is nice from the terrace, and we still managed to sit out there to enjoy the warm weather. Location is great didnt notice any noise, other than the birds, and was lovely to be able to walk out onto the front so easily and enjoy some childhood memories. Good size bedrooms, apart for the bunk room which is small. Bathrooms good apart from shower in main bathroom which is weak and we stopped using. Blinds in top back bedroom dont stay down without being fastened with someones previous fix of what I think was a dog poo bag! Wouldnt book again for the same sort of price as we felt slightly cheated, however if you can get a good price for an off peak weekend its probably more agreeable.

The house itself was beautiful, close to the beach and with small children we couldnt ask for anything else. Unfortunately during our stay we had issues with a burst pipe in the bathroom which caused the entire ceiling to collapse!! I tried to contact Sykes for help multiple times and they were absolutely useless. We ended up having to find the owners number from a local cafe owner. All in all the house was nice but we would absolutely not recommend Sykes to anyone to stay with.

Lovely stay at the Stoop, rooms are all well appointed, kitchen has everything you needed. Wifi works well as phone signal is a little poor in the area. Parking is ok, but understand the location being so near the front its never going to be perfect. Was given a A2 parking permit which is fine. the second permit was for C2 which was too far away and not used.

We very much enjoyed our stay at The Stoop which was comfortable, clean and well equipped. We would, however, strongly suggest that the owners instal double glazing. The street noise on Saturday eveningnight, in particular, was extremely loud and several of our group were woken early each morning by the seagulls!

The property is situated in a ideal location for shops, beach,and places to eat, a very spacious comfortable property with all you need to feel at home, the owners are very friendly and on hand if you have any issues, we had a very relaxing enjoyable break and will definitely return.

It's a lovely place in a great situation. A couple of the showers done get very warm but we would stay again.

Excellent place. .really central for everything..I've never been in a rented place with so many things included..fully equipped kitchen. Games ,smart TV, Bluetooth speakers.. Lots of steps but you are warned!..security gates on every stair opening for anyone with toddlers.. Couple of things need attention..water is very very hot after a minute..we had the dormer bedroom and the doors into the room and into the ensuite dont stay closed..the blinds on the velux also kept rolling back open...small things but worth looking at..all in all will definitely be back..many thanks..john.

We had a REALLY lovely stay in the Stoop, thank you. The small wrinkles we had we're ironed out quickly and efficiently by lovely, friendly people. We have 2 or 3 tiny niggles which wouldn't stop us staying again but you might like to know about. 1. Shower regulation was erratic and often boiling hot freezing cold. 2. Sitting round the table as 9 was a tad difficult which could be helped by raising the height of the table perhaps. 3. We would have appreciated a Christmas tree no matter how small These are just things that we think would make the Stoop an even better place to stay we did have an absolutely magical family Christmas in your lovely property and are considering coming again if we can make the dates work.
