Avalon Lodge Reviews

We loved our stay at Avalon Lodge 11 of us ages from 1091! Very spacious for us all with virtually all en suite bedrooms and very comfy beds. Great location very near to beach, shops, leisure centre all within 510 leisurely walk. It looks a little dated on first impressions shower unitstoilets etc but everything worked fine with lots of hot water and the WiFi was very fast and stable all week. Alison our host was very helpful and responsive and had someone round within a couple of hours to fix one of the bedroom door handles. Kitchen well equipped although we ate outtake away most days. Parking very useful indeed plenty of space for our three cars and you could get four in if necessary. Overall we had a great time and would book again if we come back to Brid as a family in the future.

Great value for our family get together, we were slightly concerned about older reviews but were extremely pleased and would highly recommend! We chose this partly because it had off street parking when other options were only street parking which could have meant parking and unloading right down the road. It was clean spacious warm and comfortable. Most rooms were ensuite and there was a big lounge as well as a huge dining area. The dining room was great for evening board games too. Kitchen was modern and well equipped but we used the local parade which had a Chinese, chip shop, pizza place and more. Also tesco express was a very short walk away which made things easy. It was a great location 2 minutes to the beach for some lovely walks. We walked along the sea front into the town and other days walked along cliff top to sewerby park. Loads of nice local pubs and restaurants made it a super easy and relaxing break for us. Brilliant house for us, we had plenty of space for my brothers and their children, as well as my own and our parents. The ground floor bedroom was also great as it meant my dad who has bad knees didn't need to go up and down stairs so that was another massive plus. The enclosed yard was really handy for the younger kids and the dog too. Alison the host was fab, really informative ahead of our stay and the communication was great both before and during our stay if we needed anything. Would highly recommend and we plan to return next year for our Mums 70th. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Louise
We had a great stay here for New Year. We were a big group of 10 adults, 8 young children and a dog. There was plenty of space for everyone and plenty of bathrooms for everyone to get ready in the morning. The sofas and beds were comfortable, there was more than enough cutlery, crockery and glasses. The windows are single glazed but the heating was on and we were all very warm. Its a little dated in some areas and its not five star luxury but we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend for other big family groups. The owner was lovely, she kept in contact and was on hand for any questions we had. There were lots of thoughtful touches like a Christmas tree and a welcome gift which we really appreciated.

Great place fir a family gettogether together. House had all the facilities you would want but a very tired building in places. Had problems with the heating and hot water not working multiple times over the weekend which needed the boiler resetting to resolve.
Victoria
Few little issues which they tried to sort quickly, few bits that should be mentioned like steps inside property, ramp at patio door needs a bit more cement as you get stuck in grove with wheel chair. More tea spoons needed but a great place for all the family to be together but have there own space too
It really could do with a bit of love and care. Loose door handles, showers that didn't really work. Necessary items that weren't present for example no potato peeler, cork screw, coffee pot or teapot not enough glasses unless you didn't mind drinking your wine from a pint glass! Some of the Duvets were very thin and generally the whole thing was a bit down at heel. Shame because it's in a good location.
We spent a fabulous long weekend at Avalon Lodge celebrating a 90th birthday with friends and family 16 of us. It is a very large property so there's plenty of room for everyone, and an enclosed courtyard for the dogs. Many rooms are en suite and the beds were very comfortable. The property does need a fair bit of maintenance work and the kitchen was somewhat lacking in utensils and dishes, especially if trying to cater for a large number only 14 large plates and 3 wine glasses. There is parking for four cars at the rear. It is in a great location, only a short walk to a Tesco express and a within very easy reach of both the sea and the town. The owner was really lovely and helpful with any queries we had.

The Avalon was very well situated in Bridlington close to the beach and amusements. It is a nice property with plenty of space. Does require a bit of modernising throughout but we all found it a comfortable stay.
Having stayed in many different forms of holiday accommodation over the years, we have seen many different standards. The house while vast needs an awful lot of work doing to it to make it somewhere people would choose, especially when you consider the amount it costs for the week. Whilst some of the refurb has been done, there are many aspects that with little outlay would have made the houses unfinished appearance acceptable. Yes bed linen and towels were provided but there were no cushions to the large sofa for the back and the other two were so worn you sank into them and struggled to get out. The house was cold especially in the evening, which was due to both having windows that were broken and doors that needed repair or replacement. There were no instructions for anything in the property, and no welcome pack so the basics were unavailable such as dishcloth, dishwasher tablets, fairy liquid and bin bags. We had to assume which bin to use, as no explanation regarding general waste and recycling. Curtains did not all fit the windows and some rooms did not have any or a blind. Making privacy an issue for some of us. Overall a disappointment, and somewhere we wouldnt recommend.
A great place to stay for large multiple families, close to the beach and town centre, very spacious and comfortable meaning we were not on top of each other all week. Great to have off street parking as well. Throughly recommended
